Gower Surf Schools

This is our guide to surfing schools located on the Gower peninsula.  These schools cater for all abilities and welcome holidaymakers. All provide surfboards, wetsuits, etc. so you can see if its the sport for you before buying this expensive equipment.

SurfabilityUK provides surfing lessons and experiences for people with additional needs due to disability, illness, injury, or learning difficulties. 

Basic skills can be learned in a two hour lesson, but  more tuition time is needed to learn control and intermediate skills. The qualified instructors are able to quickly assess individuals’ abilities and give an accelerated introduction to the sport through ‘beach teaching’ the skills required. As a measure of the success of the local Surf Schools, the majority of people achieve stand up surfing on their first day.

Tuition is also available for surfers who want to improve or learn new skills. Some of these schools also offer instruction in Paddle Boarding.We have also included a list of shops that provide surfing equipment hire. 

 

Gower Surf Academy

Operates all year round at Caswell Bay and during the summer months at Rhossili Bay. We provide all the surfing equipment you will need for free and we cater to everyone. Our surf coaches have a wide range of experience in coaching people and young people from all walks of life from premier league football players/British Lion rugby players to young people on a pathways project. Surfing is a great way to break barriers, build confidence, and get fit. Gower Surf Academy is on the Approved Outdor activity providers list for the City and County of Swansea and many other Local Authorities. We have the necessary Public Liability insurance required by councils and all our surf coaches are qualified lifeguards, ISA surf coaches along with having CRB enhanced checks.  Choose from a group or private lessons at Rhossili or Caswell beaches.

Llangennith Surf School

Llangennith Surf School is located at Llangennith beach South Wales, a stunning three-mile stretch of sandy beach right in the heart of the Gower. The atmosphere here is second to none with a friendly crowd and chilled out vibe, it’s not hard to see why Llangennith is such a sought after location to surf and kickback.

Their fully qualified British surfing association coaches and Great Britain lifeguard staff will give you a totally unique surfing experience, with quality individual attention and ensure your safety, you won’t be a number on a lesson with us, their staff are passionate about what they teach and love to see you feeling the surfing spirit just as they do.

South Wales Surf Lessons

We are a family-run surf school based at the award winning Llangennith beach on the stunning Gower peninsula, South Wales. 
We have over 10 years experience providing quality surf sessions, from first time beginners to advanced level, our instructors will be in the water personally coaching you throughout the session. Llangennith has waves throughout the summer and winter months and can be surfed at all stages of the tide. We have a range of board sizes, our wetsuits are maintained to an excellent standard so you are guaranteed to have the best experience with us.
We are located in Llangennith next to Hillend Campsite.

SurfabilityUK is a Community Interest Company that provides surfing lessons and experiences for people with additional needs due to disability, illness, injury, or learning difficulties. 

We operate from our purpose built Surf Center in Caswell Bay that was rebuilt in 2020 by the BBCs Children In Need team.

Our aim is to combine best practices from special education, health care, surfing, and lifeguarding to make surfing as inclusive as possible.  We cater to our surfers’ additional needs so they can get the most out of surfing while having a safe and really enjoyable experience. We run surfing lessons at the beautiful Caswell Bay all year round, with some of the UK’s best beginner waves.  In the winter, we also provide indoor skateboarding lessons for our surfers who find the winter sea too cold.

For over 40 years we have been providing activities, events, and education and pride ourselves on the experiences and memories that we help to create. Whether it’s surfing, rock climbing, kayaking or just getting away to relax and enjoy the views we have something for everyone. We work with schools and colleges to provide residential week and half

week programmes, as well as creating bespoke activity breaks for groups, families, and anyone that wants to experience our area of outstanding natural beauty.
