The Gower Walking Festival
The festival is an annual celebration of Gower. Most of all, its aim is to encourage participants from all backgrounds to enjoy a unique landscape and a rich heritage. It achieves this by offering an organised, diverse and sustainable programme of events, with minimum environmental impact, to educate, encourage and sometimes challenge those who take part.

The last 12 months have been challenging and we look forward to more certain times. During this difficult period, it has become clear just how important walking can be in helping to improve both your physical and mental wellbeing. You can enjoy a walk on your own, or with friends and family. The main ethos of the Gower Walking Festival has been to be SAFE and SOCIAL.
We were unable to run our festival in 2020, and now in 2021, we feel optimistic enough to be able to schedule 5 days of beautiful and varied walks during September – 3 months later than our usual early June slot. We are currently in the stages of planning our walks, contacting our walk leaders, auditing skills, and ensuring that our 5-day festival will be safe and social for you all to enjoy.
Our aim is the website will be live and tickets on sale from early July. We will inform you of any extra safety precautions needed. We will also offer a full refund if walks have to be cancelled due to Covid-19.
If you are just a stroller or dedicated rambler then take part in the Gower Walking Festival. Visit the Gower Walking Festivals website and/or see their Facebook page for up to date information.
Help or join the Gower Walking Festival team
The Gower Walking Festival is a not for profit organisation run entirely by volunteers. The funds raised pay for the annual festival brochure, posters, flyers, and website. Without volunteers there would be no festival, so we hope that as you enjoy your walk or activity you may wish to consider joining us. We are always looking for people to help so If you would like to find out more please get in touch via the Gower Walking Festivals website, their Facebook page or send them an email.
Some of the walks will undoubtedly lead you close to some of Gower’s castles and smugglers haunts. You can read up the articles on our information pages for Gower peninsula castles and Gower smugglers.
There are a number of local rambler groups in the area and all welcome newcomers.
